A “Time-lapse” is the photographic technique of taking a sequence of frames (photos) at set intervals, to record changes that take place slowly over time.
When the frames are combined and viewed back at normal speed, or in quick succession, the time passes much faster. A sequence of 25 single images will make 1 second of video.
For example: If you capture one photo every minute for 25 minutes, you will have 1 second of video.
We specialise in time-lapse photography using latest technologies and cutting-edge techniques. With over 20 years experience in the Film and Television industry, we can also produce amazing corporate videos to showcase construction projects by incorporating time-lapse sequences, music, motion-control photography and 3D graphics.
Our AIPP accredited award-winning photographer can also provide finished architectural photography of your completed project.
The system is powered by either 240v mains or can be solar-powered with an onboard lithium battery that will last for 2 weeks without sun.
We use professional Digital SLR cameras capable of capturing images up to 24 megapixels (for extreme detail and definition) along with a wide range of professional-grade lenses. The specs of each system can change depending on the requirements of each project.
We capture using the JPEG standard as default as this saves time, bandwidth and storage costs. We also have the option to shoot in RAW if required. (RAW is used by professional photographers and captures a far greater range of light information, which can then be used to create better looking images).
The settings we use will depend on the project, but the standard interval is one photo every 5 to 15 minutes of each working day.
These settings can be changed remotely us, so the interval can be increased or decreased to suit the construction activity on a particular day.
If you can provide a site plan, we will analyse and discuss the best options for your project.
We take into consideration the best angles, position of the sun, construction activity, and if it can be achieved from only one vantage point.
We can also do an onsite inspection to discuss further options.
This will depend on the available structures, vantage points or open spaces your project provides.
We can mount camera systems almost anywhere, including walls, high-rise rooftops and various stand-alone pole systems for sites without existing structures to mount to.
If your site doesn’t have an appropriate location to mount our camera systems, we can supply and install a ‘Fixed Pole System’ up to 12 metres high. We can also supply ‘Mobile Pole System’ up to 4 metres high.
Alternatively, you can install a pole system yourself.
Once we have the green light, the systems will be configured, tested and be ready to install within 10 to 14 days lead time.
We constantly monitor camera statistics and network connections remotely. The system also alerts us by SMS and email whenever there is a potential problem.
We do everything possible to ensure the security of our camera systems.
Anti-theft bolts and locking mechanisms are used on all mounts and camera housings.
The camera housings are IP65 rated, and sealed for extreme weather and dust environments. Additional lightning arresters help to protect the system from lightning strikes.
The housings use a specially coated glass that allows water to bead off without leaving marks. We also offer anti-fungal and mould protection for extreme tropical environments.
We can alter the frame rate or time intervals in which images are taken. This will change how fast or slow the time-lapse sequence plays back.
We also offer motion-control systems that can zoom and pan while capturing the time-lapse sequence. This effect is visually stunning and will make any subject stand out.
